"PURPOSE", Asha D & Mark CUPIDORE's first EP. The Reggae Street Chant of Mark Cupidore associated with the ultra efficient riddims of beatmaker Asha D: to discover absolutely!
To make your mouth water, we simultaneously release "Life's heavy load", single accompanied by a video clip:
A sound that will give courage to those going through life's difficulties.
PURPOSE is Seven tracks and seven ways to enjoy Reggae Street Chant, a vocal style Mark Cupidore perfected from his native island of Trinidad. Halfway between toast and singing, this flow allows the singer to be effective on all variations of reggae, from roots to dancehall to dub "stepper". According to the musical style proposed by Asha D, it emphasizes the melodic side, or it accentuates its phrasing, for our greatest pleasure.
Precisely, Asha D is not on his first try. Recognized drummer of the Reggae scene notably with his Backing band "Artikal Band" (Yaniss Odua among others), he is also a talented producer, his productions have been selected by many artists and he continues to feed his site riddiminstrumental.com at the rate of one instrumental per week.
For Purpose, Asha D provides musical production with talent. As a beatmaker, he has always taken the time to perfect the riddim ... In this EP, he offers rhythms that are in turn deep and bewitching (Troubles away), lighter (I want you to know) and does not hesitate not to make some forays, in particular towards Dub (Jah name will call today). Each version is mixed to the millimeter and sticks perfectly to the voice ... unless it is the opposite ... In any case, the result transports us instantly.
"Purpose" is the goal. From a philosophical point of view, it is the Great Design of Jah, the Rastafarian God. More prosaically, it is also the goal that everyone sets for themselves, the determination shown to achieve their ends while respecting their values.
And speaking of values, Asha D & Mark Cupidore present theirs to us and they proudly defend them: Love and consciousness. Purpose is an introspective notebook, the subjects of which touch all of us.
Asha D & Mark Cupidore invite you to travel ...
The first two tracks sound both a warning and a comfort."Life's heavy load" sings about the hardships of life and "Purpose" tells us that nothing happens by chance. "Jah name will call today" and "Call Jah name" clearly evoke faith in Rastafari. Profession of faith shared in combination with Asha D in "Call Jah Name". In "About Black", Mark Cupidore sings about his pride in being who he is and urges us to do the same. "I want you to know brings" a touch of sensuality. To conclude, "Troubles Away" gives us the solution to get rid of the dead weight that keeps us from moving forward in life.
Listen to "Purpose" and discover the world of Reggae Street Chant, a voice and a sound that will seduce you from the first moments!
Good listening!
All tracks were recorded and mixed at Artikal Dread studio in Montpellier, France.
